Spring mood

Easter holiday is over and it’s time to return back to normal life. I spent Sunday unpacking suitcases, getting laundry sorted and the school uniforms ready. We even managed to do some gardening, which is pretty rare occurrence in our household.

I’m feeling inspired to declutter and organise, not sure why, but I know from past experience this feeling won’t last so I better get started soon. My wardrobe is filled with clothes I haven’t used for ages. Kids playroom, toy storage and bookshelves need sorting out. As do their wardrobes. Kitchen drawers could use a tidy up too. and I have bunch of stuff waiting for ebaying. I haven’t actually started any of these jobs yet, but writing things down will hopefully inspire me to finish them all.

My children went back to school yesterday, loaded with their instrument-, school- and sports bags. I got to go back to my favourite hobby, hot yoga after way too looo-ong break. First the studio had a water damage and then I was away for Easter.

To summarise my first class back: pretty bad. I felt stiff, inflexible and weak. I have two more classes booked for this week, I hope they won’t as painful as the first one.

Anyway, it was the return of yoga classes that reminded me of my old problem – I don’t like breakfast. Or I do love breakfast, if it’s Sunday 11am but not Monday morning 7am. I’m not hungry that early and eating makes me feel sick. It’s not a problem if I have a day off or just go for a quick run straight after drop off. But anything more than that, and I need more fuel than coffee.

I went to Monday’s class without eating breakfast and I felt weak and lacking energy as a consequence. A little light-headed too. So I knew I had to sort myself out before today’s class. I decided drinking would be easier than eating so made myself a smoothie, a very healthy smoothie:

Mango, a handful of almonds, spinach, hemp seeds, kiwi and oat milk. And plenty of lemon juice. Handfuls and pinches, exact amounts don’t really matter. High in energy but not too heavy for downward dogs. This might be just the breakfast solution I was after. I definitely felt better today than yesterday, but can’t claim this smoothie actually increased my flexibility!
