Top 5 interior trends for spring and summer 2017
Now that official introductions have been made, let’s talk about interiors!
I got recently asked what are my favourite interior trends for the spring/summer 2017. It was hard to choose just five, but here are my current top 5 interior trends:
Green and Tropical patterns
The popularity of house plants has been rising for couple of years already, and sees no end. I absolutely love it, one the easiest and most affordable ways to freshen up any space is by adding nice plants to it. As I’m not exactly blessed with a green thumb, and I also travel often, my favourite plants are ones that don’t require frequent watering. Current favourites include Sansevieria (pictured), Zamioculcas zamiifolia and any sort of succulent.
Tropical prints just look so lovely and easy way to induce some fun int your interior! The colour green has also seen a rise in popularity. Combination of green with light, dusky pinks and soft greys looks especially appealing and beautiful.
Brass and gold
Who would have thought 5 years ago that brass would make a such a huge comeback? And look so incredibly good and cool at the same time! Dark blues combined with brass does look especially stunning and on trend. I’ve been searching a brass or gold night lamp for a while to glamour up my bedside ‘look’ but have had no luck finding one to fit my budget/looks requirements. Search continues!
Muted, soft colours
Backbone of my style, muted colours of white, grey, beige and blush pink as a new addition. You really can’t go wrong with these!
Find a little corner or nook in your home and make it your own relaxing sanctuary! Here you can retire from the demands of busy world with a good book, magazine or with just a cup of tea to relax and unwind. Doesn’t have to be big but preferably in a quiet place in your home. No TV or electronic devices allowed (well, except kindle maybe :)!
For maximum effect, use those muted colours mentioned before, lots of soft textures (velvet, knits, sheepskin) and make sure the furniture is comfortable. It’s a place for relaxing after all. My favourite interior trend!
Ok, I know this might not be the most obvious interior trend choice for summer, but I can’t help it, i just love anything velvety. The soft texture makes it irresistible. Especially if you combine velvet and jewel colours – fresh, bright colours make anything more summery. If you are feeling unsure about velvet, start with a pillow case and see it for yourself.
