I love Ikea. From their unpretentious approach to decorating to the food shop which reminds me of home with all the familiar brands. Meatballs in the restaurant. Super clever furniture and storage solutions for smaller spaces. No crazy constant sales, where everything is always -50% to the point that you start to suspect that’s actually the normal price and you have been tricked into believing you are getting a good deal. With Ikea you know what the deal is, with lower priced items you know that probably won’t be your family heirloom to be passed down generations.
Having said that, that doesn’t mean I want my house to look like everything is from Ikea either. But sometimes the budget friendlier options are unavoidable. That’s where these cool and clever Ikea hacks come in handy!
1. Ikea-hack: Marble top bedside table with leather handles
This is one I have in my own house (but I had seen the idea from somewhere else). I had a pair of these off-white hemnes bedside tables, that were looking tired and uninspiring.
I used Farrow and Ball’s minty grey paint for the wooden parts and marble effect sticky back plastic sheet for the top.
2. Ikea-hack: Dressing table fur stool
Just how cute is this fur stool? A perfect dash of glam in your dressing room!

3. Ikea-hack: Bathroom vanity cupboard
This clever hack makes a statement piece out of this humble Ikea piece. Love the bold colour too!

4. Ikea-hack: Kura bed updates
These are my favourites! And there are so many of them too. It’s just amazing how clever and inventive some people are. This one was my daughter’s favourite when we were redesigning her room:

5. Ikea-hack: Muffin tin as a table centre piece
This is a great idea for your herbs!

6. Ikea-hack: Supercharge your Ikea pieces
This is more of an upscale approach for Ikea hacking but the results are incredibly stylish too:
A company called superfront creates legs, fronts and handles for Ikea furniture.
7. Ikea-hack: From spice racks to office shelving
I think my daughter would love to have these in her room:
