That magical moment when you can be sure it is safe to put those chunky winter coats in storage. I can smell spring in the air already! Spring jackets are the perfect transitional piece for warmer weather. There are still chilly, breezy days, showers and cool evenings in spring. So, having something you can just chuck on and feel stylish in is a great investment, all work well with my wardrobe essentials! These are my favourite types of jackets for spring:

The Trench coat
An absolute timeless classic, year upon year the trench coat graces the chicest of shoulders in spring. From Burberry and Aquascutum popularising the trench to Hollywood cementing it in the hall of fame. Think Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Today, the trench has hit the runways of virtually every top designer who has added their own twist to this classic. It goes without saying that for like April showers, the trench is both a godsend and the most stylish choice. Stick to the classic beige or change it up with other spring shades.
The Shacket
The what? I hear you cry. The shacket is basically a shirt jacket. It looks like a shirt but is warmer. Massively versatile and very on-trend. Super cool plaid for a trucker-style look or cute in beige, whichever you go for it is a workable piece for many looks. I’ve seen some great outfits where shackets have been styled with leather trousers and skirts for a glam look.
The Quilted Jacket

Winter gave us the cosy trend of puffer coats. Those coats were a big cloud-like hug, keeping us warm and dry. So, take that trend and make it lighter for spring with a quilted jacket. From short to long styles, there’s loads online right now to suit all. Pick one up in a spring shade like lilac, pale green, ecru or sky blue.
The Biker Jacket
The leather biker jacket has a long history, dating back to the 1920s. In the 50s, James Dean rocked one whilst gracing Hollywood. Then, along came punk and the biker jacket was born as a key item for the cool and rebellious forevermore. These days the biker jacket takes on many forms – different lengths, colors, embellishments – there is a biker jacket for everyone. I like mine in lighter, softer colours. Whichever one you purchase, I promise that it will become an absolute essential to your spring wardrobe. My current favourite spring jacket is a suede sandstone one, super dreamy!
The Blazer
The blazer doesn’t need much introduction – it is an absolute key piece for your wardrobe. A super versatile jacket that will look amazing with virtually any item in your wardrobe – jeans, joggers or leather trousers! It works for a night out just as much as the office or a trip to the shops. Go for a check pattern to bring it bang up-to-date.
