My everyday ‘barely there’ Makeup essentials

my makeup essentials…

I recently shared my best hair products and – routine, this time it’s all about make up!

I like to wear my makeup fairly simple and natural. My essential makeup varies from minimal & super quick to going out version which includes slightly darker eye makeup but nothing too bold.

Having said that, I do like wearing makeup and my routine definitely isn’t just ‘mascara and go’. I’ve aways had slightly problematic skin so I love a good base product, and anything illuminating, as forever dreaming of dewy skin…

My makeup bag hasn’t changed much recently, and these have been my fave products for the last few months. All of them are also products I would purchase again when they’re used up, so no one hit wonders here! I also recently shared my favourite everyday perfumes, have a look at here.

These are my current base makeup essentials

Shiseido Synchro Skin Self Refreshing Foundation*; This is one of my favourite foundations EVER. It applies beautifully, has just the right amount of coverage, lasts for a long time and it looks invisible on the skin. Mine is in shade 240 which works really well on my fairly light, neutral/warm skin tone. I absolutely love this!

Beauty Pie Sheer Tinted Oil-free SPF20*; This oil-free sheer-tinted SPF is my secret to subtly glowing, airbrushed looking skin. I mix it in with my foundation for a dewier finish or just pat on where you need it for a soft-focus glow. A drop goes a long way! I have it in both fair and light, and use one depending on the season and my tan situation (normally non-existing). Absolutely brilliant product and I don’t want to live without.

NARS Pro Prime – Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base*; This was such a game changer for me. My skin has never been especially oily – except from my eyelids. I’ve never really used much eyeshadows, especially darker shades because of they just creased immediately. This base sorts that issue out completely (just needs a light dusting of powder on top) and the creasing issue became history! I can’t recommend this enough.

Makeup essentials on a dressing table

Nars Radiant Creamy concealer*; I’ve inherited my nana’s dark under-eyes and they’ve one of my many skin related struggles. If I leave them uncovered, I look like an exhausted panda and not in a cute way. This concealer has great coverage so only thinnest layer is needed – so it doesn’t crease like lots of other concealers. I highly recommended this product, and absolutely my makeup essential!

Shiseido Synchro Skin Self Refreshing concealer*; My other concealer favourite is from Shiseido Synchro skin – great coverage, but it blends out beautifully. I use this to cover any darker spots or imperfections. The applicator works really well and the consistency is perfect. I have the shade 201, which is a perfect light neutral, not at all yellow/pink. This was kindly gifted to me, but would spend my own money on this anytime!

Beauty Pie All-in Wonder Illuminating primer*; Admittedly I’m quite lazy when it comes to primers, and often remember afterwards that I was supposed to use a primer too – but I do notice the difference and I think my makeup lasts longer when I do remember to use primer. A drop goes a long way in helping my skin to feel prepped before I apply my base, meaning a more refined & luminous finish.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish*; I’ve had this mineral highlighter for a long time and it’s still not showing any signs of use, despite me using it pretty much daily. Lovely to apply and gives a beautiful, natural glow.

Eye brows & eyes essential makeups

Bobbi Brown brow kit*; Now this is the Holy Grail of brow products. I’ve recommended this to a lot of my friends and I’m on my 3rd one as I love it so much. The lightest palette has the perfect colours for me, it’s easy to use for natural looking brows. I use this pretty much every day, even if I’m too lazy to wear much of anything else.

Beauty Pie Volume Boost Mascara*; Controversially I often go without mascara and have bright lipstick instead. Mascaras often make my eyes itchy, but none of the Beauty pie mascaras have so far, so I’ve been super happy to have found them. I definitely prefer my makeup with mascara (mine are naturally quite light), but often feel too lazy to wear any, especially when I’m wearing glasses.

Lipstick & – gloss essentials

I have a few essential lip makeups I keep rotating at the moment. I love Bobbi Brown Nourishing Lip Colour* – The formula is so perfect; it smoothes and moisturises lips in one quick application. Plus, the shade range is fabulous and it’s non-sticky. I have Beauty Pie Lip Crayons* in most colours, they are just beautiful and so easy to use. I also love the Shiseido Colorgel Lipbalm*, in peony, the perfect just- more- than-nude colour and it feels light and smooth on the lips.

To finish off:

Beauty Pie Fresh Glow Breathable Setting Spray*; My absolute favourite! I used to use the Urban Decay’s setting spray but this one is fraction of the price and much better. It’s more often out of stock so last time I bought 3 just to be on the safe side 🙂

This is my current line up for the essential makeup products for a natural, ‘no makeup’ makeup. I’ve been on a no cosmetic shopping- ban for a couple of months. We are renovating our house and I realised when we were moving out that I had ridiculous amounts of opened cosmetic products… So I decided not to buy anything new (other than replace products – say if I ran out of mascara I can buy a new one to replace that). Luckily I have found such great products that I haven’t felt like I’ve been missing out on anything!
