My style staples & essential wardrobe pieces

There is no better time than now to update your wardrobe and make it work for you. Spring is around the corner and our lives are beginning to return to some normalcy. It’s time to shake the cobwebs off that loungewear and start feeling yourself again, I know that’s how I am feeling right now.

My style staples and essential pieces are so key to my wardrobe being workable. By investing in style classics I find it saves so much time in the morning. I’m able to grab my clothes and pull together a comfortable and stylish outfit by having those key items.

My style staples
what shall i wear today?

I love trends too but I find having some staple pieces creates a perfect foundation to build upon. Just adding a few accessories can update and refresh an outfit.

Take a look at some of my most hardworking and reliable pieces from classic white blouses to the best midi skirts:

High-waisted jeans

I love a high-waist jean – a fabulous and classic way to elongate the leg. They create a great waist line for tucking t-shirts and blouses in. I’m loving the beige trend in fashion and interiors right now, jeans in this colour way help update your wardrobe.

my favourite jeans

These Mango jeans have a loose style that makes them both stylish and modern. Worn with causal sneakers, they make for a lovely spring-ready outfit.

In a lovely stone beige, these jeans have a slouchy casual look that works well with both sneakers or a pair of gorgeous flat mules.

A slim-style mom jean that’s cropped at the ankle makes a prefect addition to your spring wardrobe staples. The stretchy denim makes the fit super comfy too.

Strictly speaking these are trousers but they come in a chambray colour way which makes them look like jeans. These are the most perfect flowy high-waisted trouser. I love them with a white blouse and a 70s style round jute bag.

Shorts and skirts

all colour coordinated

Smarten up spring day looks with a pair of classic tailored shorts. These look fabulous with mules and make a stylish choice for warmer weather.

From denim to more flowy cotton styles. A midi skirt can take you through the day to evening in warmer weather. Looking great with boots, sandals or trainers. I also have to champion the fact that, unlike mini skirts, you don’t have to spend half the day pulling them down. Mini skirts tend to ride up every time you sit! Update the denim skirt with this crisp white midi number, giving total chic 70s vibes.

Who doesn’t love Broderie anglaise? Evoking images of summer days running through fields and picking apples, this skirt is both gorgeous and practical for hot days

There’s something subtly country-style about this skirt. Style with a belt and cute ankle boots and you’ll be ready for the rodeo. Seriously though, it’s a beautiful skirt that looks lovely with blouses.

A fuller shaped skirt with lovely soft material. For a summer day pair with cool materials and sandals. It comes in a classic khaki shade.

A smart choice for work days and colder weather. Or, even an evening out! A swishy pleated number that will look glorious with a pair of sparkle healed ankle boots.

Pretty cardigans

Knitwear is so essential for any season. Finer knits and paler colours make a great choice for spring and summer days. When the evenings are longer but the temperature is lower, bring a lovely cardi’ with you.

love a pretty cardigan

This gorgeous cardigan is hard to resist with pretty pointelle knit detailing. Pair with gold hoop earrings, tuck into some high-waist jeans and you’re ready to go.

Lovely openwork pointelle knit. Pop a cami under, add some lovely fine gold jewellery, tuck into a midi skirt and pair with cute ankle boots.

Casual sneakers

A quintessentially British summer cannot be without a casual white pump. Along with longer days, Wimbledon on the tv, Pimms in hand and strawberry picking. I love this ochre coloured twist on the classic white.

Flat mules

Comfy, cool, stylish and quite a bit smarter than pool slides. My fav’ summer shoe – the flat mule! In braided straw these are a gorgeous pair of shoes to slip on for warmer days

My style staples: midi dresses

A midi dress is such an easy piece to have in your wardrobe. Hiding a multitude of sins. Add a pair of statement earrings, lippie and sandals and you are good to go.

midi-dresses are my favourites

The detail in this dress is amazing. Floral print, belted, billowy cuffed sleeves and modern collar. This is going to be a hardworking piece in my wardrobe!

Shirt dresses are so versatile. Whilst they look like simple garments on the hanger they can be styled so many different ways. Leave buttoned up for a cool modern look or unbutton and add a belt and jewellery for a more dressed up chic style.

Sezane never lets me down when it comes to those pieces to invest in. Simply stunning classic pieces that are so well-made and timeless. This cotton-linen dress features beautiful embroidered and lace detailing

Total girl boss vibes in this dress. Style with ankle boots and a wide brimmed hat.

White blouses

The white blouse is an absolute gem in the essential key pieces’ list. Worn alone or under a jumper, it is a must for a workable wardrobe.

i love a frilly blouse

This blouse is the absolute prettiest of embroidered blouses I’ve seen.

The puffed sleeves and collar on this shirt made me squeal a little when I first saw it. The perfect blouse I have ever seen, a wardrobe staple for life! I could pair this with anything.

These are my style staples – did any of yours get on my list?
