It’s that time of the year to start getting your outdoor space and garden seating area ready for summer season. Good outdoor seating is essential for making most of outdoor space. We updated our patio seating last year, and I still love the new furniture. Hopefully this year we can get the decking done and the ugly walls covered with something to make our outdoor seating space extra special. I’ve shared on my Insta stories about my current garden project, which is disguising an ugly curved retaining wall.
There are so many options these days, from the traditional garden bench to build-in garden seating corners to summer kitchens and pergolas. I’ve selected some of my favourites garden inspiration images from Pinterest and some of my favourite garden bits and pieces to make your garden extra inviting! I’m hoping our garden seating area will look this good one day!

I love minimal planters. I would fill mine with lollipop trees for height and some lower topiary balls. And if you have any build-in planters, build-in a bench between two flower beds. Those would create lovely reading nooks too!

I do have a thing for relaxed bamboo garden furniture, like the one above! That would be a perfect addition to our little summer cottage’s garden. Add a hammock, or perhaps a lovely garden swing, and a little bistro set to have a breakfast on.

Garden seating area ideas
A great way to incorporate seating into a garden without it taking up a lot of space is to make it part of a fence or wall. You could build a simple wooden bench or a more substantial banquette seating. Perfect for cosying up in the summer evenings!

Firepit is a must garden accessory for garden! I also love to have lanterns filled with candles and festoon lights to maximise the cosy ambiance.
